Rory Kinnear, Reeve Carney & Harry Treadaway Join Showtime’s ‘Penny Dreadful’
Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Reeve Carney (Snow Falling On Cedars) and Harry Treadaway (The Lone Ranger) have been cast in Showtime’s upcoming drama series Penny Dreadful, TVWise has learned.
They join previously announced main cast members Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green. Treadaway has been cast as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, Carney as Dorian Grey and Kinnear as a mysterious character of haunting intensity. Production on Penny Dreadful is set to commence later this fall, with Showtime eyeing a 2014 premiere.
Created by John Logan, Penny Dreadful will see some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters – including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula – become embroiled in Victorian London. The series weaves together these classic horror origin stories as the characters grapple with their monstrous alienation. The series is produced by Neal Street Productions with John Logan and Sam Mendes serving as executive producers. Juan Antonio Bayona is on board to direct the opening block of episodes.
